Birthday Calendar Ceryan Raissa
For Ceryan Raissa Illustraties I’ve made the lettering for her birthday calendar (in Dutch).
The challenge was to make the lettering fit in with her beautiful animal illustrations without taking too much attention away from the illustrations. For this I also did some research into the animals, where I found out the firefly is commonly used in Art Nouveau, so I made the lettering in that style for the relevant month (May/Mei).
I first made some initial sketches and sent them to Ceryan to see if I was on the right track.
After that, I made them bigger, refined them and made them more detailed. Finally, I inked them, scanned them and did some small retouching.
Ceryan was happy with the result and found that they combined really well with her illustrations. I loved seeing the final printed calendar!
