Twenty songs released in 2019 that I loved the most. Not ranked, but I put some thought into the track order. I've been doing this since 2016, and I love it.
The Weeknd - Blinding Lights
Only recently released and it went straight into this playlist. A song with an 80's vibe, great for driving.
Angel Olsen - All Mirrors
I'm a fan of Angel Olsen, and her new album didn't disappoint. It's full of great tracks, like this song, which she releases as her first single of this album. The music video is pretty good, too.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Bright Horses
Not the most accessible music, but oh so beautiful. This song is about the son of Nick Cave, who died after falling from a cliff.
The Black Keys - Lo/Hi
Some classic rock & roll music.
Billie Eilish - bad guy
Hard to get around this not-so-standard pop song in 2019.
Mark Ronson feat. Angel Olsen - True Blue
Old school melancholic sound, with the lovely voice of Angel Olsen. What's not to like?
Big Thief - Not
Lovely poetic lyrics and great build-up.
Vampire Weekend - Sympathy
Vampire Weekend is back with energy.
James Blake feat. ROSALÍA - Barefoot In The Park
Beautiful blend of two voices.
Solange - Binz
Out-of-this-world filler track by Solange (sister of Beyoncé).
FKA twigs - cellophane
Harry Styles - Falling
A ballad that hits me in the feels.
HAIM - Now I'm In It
An uplifting sounding song about being in a depression. The lyrics hit close to home for me, for when I was in a depression. You should watch the music video, too.
Karen O & Danger Mouse - Turn The Light
Almost everything Danger Mouse touches turns into gold.
Lana Del Rey - Cinnamon Girl
Lana Del Rey released an excellent album this year, and this is one of my favourites on it.
The National - Light Years
A touching song with a lovely black & white music video.
Charli XCX & Christine and the Queens - Gone
Breaking down & breaking free, captured in a song.
Harry Styles - Lights Up
A song about accepting who you are, and not being afraid to show it.
Angel Olsen - Chance
Best album closer of the year. The lyrics, the build-up, the ending; I love it all.
Lana Del Rey - The Greatest
